Chance 2 Change Does Digital
/Chance 2 Change (C2C) is an expert reference group with lived experience of health inequalities and inequity in Scotland.
C2C have been on a peer-support journey over the last few years, including providing lived experience perspectives to the Scottish Government on health inequalities and inequity, and on how primary care can address these. You can see their whole journey in this brochure.
The group continues to go from strength to strength and they have recently produced two brilliant films which detail the group’s work in developing their digital skills in during the pandemic.
Digital exclusion and access to services
The group had expressed a need to updated their digital knowledge while they were learning as a group on our HIIC course and this need was urgently escalated due to the impact of the pandemic quarantine measures.
While a lot of people shifted to online platforms to stay connected to friends and family, the C2C members found themselves isolated and excluded from life-saving servies and support networks. Coming out of the worst of the pandemic, many services still continued to operate digitally and so accessing services now required digital conenctions and competency.
Digital inclusion and the sharing of lived experience
So Chance 2 Change went digital, facilitated by Clydesider Creative, who were commissioned to work with the group to deliver a digital inclusion project. This not only meant the group could learn these now-vital skills, but were able to share their experiences with medical and professional audiences who had no or little personal experience of digital exclusion. This then led to the group not only learning to go digital, but also to become film-makers as they shared their story.
The two films produced by the group are an outstanding example of community-led health in action and how, with peer support, the group achieved so much and had lots of fun doing it!
This report has a lot more detail on the project.
