The 2 day HIIC tutor training course is a SCQF credit rated course, 8 points at level 7, and aims to equip participants to deliver Health Issues in the Community training to a wide variety of people in a broad range of settings. 

This course will enable you to deliver the HIIC course for participants.

Applicants should have a reasonable knowledge of community development and experience of delivering training in a community setting. 

The tutor training gives participants an opportunity to find out about the pack content, how to use it, the learning methods that are used and the expectations/responsibilities of tutors. Please note we also offer commissioned training for organisations/agencies who would like to train up to 12 of their staff in one go. Learn more about this.

Course fees

Depending on the organisation you work for/ are with: 

  1. Statutory Organisations - £330  

  2. Voluntary / Community Sector - £220  

  3. Limited Bursary places for past HIIC participants who are unwaged or low paid. Please contact Kate for more details.

A wee bit more about the course

What you need to do to attain the tutor accreditation:

  • Pre course reading to prepare for the training course

  • Fully attend and participate in the 2-day training

  • Complete learning log

  • Undertake practice delivery sessions equivalent to 8 -10 hours of delivery time within 6 months of completing tutor training (extended time can be discussed with the HIIC Development Manager - Kate McHendry)

  • Complete a briefing note for each practice development session delivered

  • A written reflective account of your learning of delivering the practice sessions.

This will all be explained in greater detail during the 2 day training. However, if you have any questions about the training please do not hesitate to contact Kate McHendry - HIIC Development Manager. 

We have to cover our costs for the tutor training so once registered for the tutor training please note that:

  • If for any reason you need to cancel attendance you should advise us at least two weeks prior to the first day of the course or you will be charged the full cost or forfeit your right to a bursary place (if applicable).

Please note: Submission of assignment will be an additional £30 fee to cover marking for SCQF credit points.
